Bright lounge with wooden floors and bookshelf at Doctor's Lane, Melton Mowbray

Melton Mowbray is a market town in Leicestershire. The centre is compact: pubs, cafés, pork pie shops and the station are all within a short walk of each other, and the roads out take you to Twinlakes, Belvoir Castle and Rutland Water without a long trek. It is also a working town. Contractor teams come here for jobs that last longer than a hotel booking feels sensible.

We keep two houses, both bookable direct. They are set up for crews, families and groups who want a kitchen, separate bedrooms and somewhere to park a van. You check yourself in with a lockbox from 3pm, and you leave by 11am. The lead guest will need photo ID. Quiet hours are 10pm to 8am at every Amberwood home.

Algernon Road sleeps nine in four bedrooms and six beds. One room has two doubles, then there is a double, a twin and a single. The lounge is large, with a brick fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a breakfast bar. There is no dining table, so meals happen at the bar or in the lounge. A dedicated workspace, fast WiFi and an iron are there for working weeks. Parking is a free private car park behind the house. Vans are welcome and you do not need a permit. The town centre, the pubs and the station are a 10 to 15 minute walk. Invoices are available on request. The family bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Doctor's Lane sleeps eight and sits in the town centre. Three bedrooms give you two doubles and a twin, which is six people in beds, and a sofa bed takes the house to eight. It has been newly renovated. Parking is free and on-street, right outside, for cars and vans. The kitchen is fully equipped, there is a washing machine, a Smart TV, a workspace and fast WiFi. Pubs, cafés and the pork pie shops are about a ten-minute walk. Twinlakes, Belvoir Castle and Rutland Water are an easy drive when you have a day off.

The two Melton houses

Who stays

Contractor teams

Both houses take vans, have fast WiFi and a workspace, and use a lockbox so a late finish does not turn into a late check-in queue. Algernon Road sleeps nine and has a private car park. Doctor's Lane sleeps eight and is closer to the town centre.

Groups

Nine people fit at Algernon Road, eight at Doctor's Lane. Everyone in the bedrooms has a bed. At Doctor's Lane the last two are on a sofa bed, which is worth knowing before you book eight.

Families

A whole house, a kitchen and a walk into town. Doctor's Lane is the easier evening if you want dinner on foot. Algernon Road gives you more beds and off-street parking.

Longer jobs

If the stay is a few weeks rather than a weekend, say so. Longer stays are welcome, and we can invoice a company. Use the contact form and choose contractor or business stay.
